Solar Panels

Rainwater harvesting

Any water heater can be converted into a solar-powered water heater, with solar panels.

Solar water heating systems usually include a water tank, a storage tank for heat transfer fluid, a collection of solar panels, and a heat transfer unit.

Solar panels collect energy from the rays of the sun. This energy is stored in the heat transfer fluid, which brings the heat from the collection point to the usage point.

How the heat transfer fluid is moved is determined by the type of solar water heating system.  Active systems pump the fluid, while passive systems use natural convection to move it.

Depending on the season/climate, solar water heaters can provide as much as 85% of the energy necessary for hot water.  When the energy from the sun is not sufficient to heat the water, the solar system can default to an electricity-powered central heating system.

There are many benefits to installing Solar Panels:

  • • Maintenance Free
  • • Renewable energy source
  • • Grant aided for existing Homes
  • • Better energy rating for the dwelling (BER)
  • • Lower CO2 emissions
